Spotify Connect lets you cast Spotify playback directly to a Nest speaker from within the Spotify app. Your Nest receives the audio stream directly from Spotify's servers — your PC acts as a remote control, not an audio source.
Requirements:
- • Spotify Premium (Free plan does not support Connect)
- • Nest speaker set up in Google Home app
- • In Spotify: click the Devices icon → select your Nest speaker
Limitations of Spotify Connect:
- • Only works for Spotify — nothing else plays through the speaker
- • Requires Premium — Free users are blocked
- • Your PC speaker goes silent while Nest plays (no sync)
- • Discord, games, browser audio all stay on PC speakers
Method 2: PC Nest Speaker (all apps, any Spotify plan)
PC Nest Speaker works at the Windows audio level — it captures everything your PC plays and streams it to your Nest speakers over Wi-Fi. Spotify desktop, browser Spotify, YouTube, Discord, games — all of it goes through the Nest simultaneously.
This means if you have Spotify Free, you can still play it through your Nest speakers. The audio comes from your PC, not from Spotify's servers, so Spotify's Premium restriction on Connect doesn't apply.

Does it work with Spotify Free?
Yes. PC Nest Speaker streams your PC's audio output — it doesn't interact with Spotify's servers. Spotify Free limitations (shuffle-only, ads) still apply within Spotify, but you can route the audio to your Nest regardless of plan.
What's the audio quality like?
PC Nest Speaker streams at 16-bit/44.1kHz. Spotify desktop streams at up to 320kbps Ogg Vorbis. The quality you hear on your Nest is the same as what Spotify sends to your PC.
Can I use this with Apple Music, Tidal, or YouTube Music?

Will Spotify still show what's playing on my Nest in the Google Home app?
